Stat System~ (BETA) Empty Stat System~ (BETA)

Post by Roxas Tue Jan 05, 2010 3:42 pm

The stat system will determine many things on this site, such as how strong your taijutsu are, how quick you perform handsigns, how well you can dodge, these are well among other things that a well thought out stat system will determine. In this post, I will explain about the many types of stats, how they work, why they are useful in battle, and what would best suit your specific character.
    The Following Are the Stats/Attributes:

    • Strength
      - Weak (lvl 1)

      - Quitter (lvl 1)
      - Slacker (lvl 2)
      - Average (lvl 3)
      - Determined (lvl 4)
      - Unstoppable (lvl 5)
    Strength:
Your character's strength is a common variable in most battles, especially when utilizing the skill of taijutsu. Your strength is your body's ability to use muscle, as well as bone, strength as a means of fighting and dealing as much damage as possible. Another good thing about strength, is that it allows your character to carry a lot more weight an average character would usually be able to hold, such as Gaara's sand gourd, which would take quite some strength to run with, given it being on his back.

Strength allows the user to do more damage through the use of taijutsu, as mentioned before. This meaning that a punch from someone with lvl. 12 strength would certainly best that of someone with lvl. 2 strength. The higher your strength, the more damage physical and melee attacks will deal to your opponent's health. A graph is shown below of how strength can effect the most basic forms of hand-to-hand and melee combat:
Punch: lvl.0 deals 2 damage to the opponent's health with each successful hit, this damage increasing by six with every level above level zero, that the user possesses. An example of this: someone with lvl. 5 strength, who punches an opponent, would deal 2 (6x5)=damage. This is the basic mathematical problem that determines how much damage a punch deals.
2 (6xL), L standing for the level of your strength.
Kick: lvl.0 deals a total of 3 damage to the opponent's health with each successful kick, this damage increasing by seven with every level above level zero, that the user posses. an example of this: someone with lvl. 3 strength, who punches an opponent, would deal 20 damage to the opponent.
Carry Weight: Like stated before, your strength greatly determines how much weight you can carry at a time. As so, your weapons each weigh a certain amount, and here is where you will see how much over-all weight you are allowed to carry at a time; your general appearance, for example, clothes, headband, robe, etc. do not count as weight.
    Strength Level 0: 80 lbs
    Strength Level 1: 120 lbs
    Strength Level 2: 160 lbs
    Strength Level 3: 200 lbs
    Strength Level 4: 260 lbs
    Strength Level 5: 300 lbs
    Sword Attacks:
Slash: Depending on the strength of the user, a slash could be deadly, or it could not be. The sword portion of the stat system revolves around the strength ranking system, rather than the strength level system. The following is a graph of how your strength ranking determines how much damage a slash of your sword can deal at a time.
Weak: Strong enough to just penetrate all seven layers of the skin; deals five damage.
Mild: Strong enough to penetrate all seven layers of the skin, as well as muscle tissue; deals twelve damage damage.
Average: Strong enough to penetrate all seven layers of the skin, muscle tissue, and an inch into their bone; deals eighteen damage.
Strong: Strong enough to completely slice through an entire limb; deals twenty-five damage.
Berserk: Being the highest ranking of strength possible, berserk strength enables the user to completely slice through a human body with a single slash, facing little to no resistance. It can even penetrate most forms of armor, including diamond.

    Health:
Your character's health is the amount of abuse they are able to take before dieing, becoming hospitalized, or fatally ill. Although there is not very much to be said about your health, it is one of the most vital variables in a battle. If you have low health, your opponent will be able to take you down a lot faster than if you had higher health. So, I bet your wondering how this whole 'health' thing works? Well, it's actually kind of simple.

At level zero, your health is at a mere 75 hp. For every level put into your health over zero, your amount of health points will increase by ten for each level, and for every fifth level you will gain an extra five points. This means that if you have level five health, your health will be 75 plus ten plus five, which is fifty, increasing it to 125. Since you have a total of five levels, you gain an extra five points to your health, making it 130. If you ever reach level ten, you will gain another five points along with the additional points brought on from going up each level.
    Example:
Bob has 95 health points and gets hit with a level 1 punch. Well, if your opponent follows the rules he will state how much damage the punch will deal if it makes contact. So, let's say it does make contact. Then Bob will lose a total of 8 points, bringing his health down to a total of 87. You must always state your remaining stats at the end of your post, this is important so that you may both keep track of who is winning and who is losing, so that there is no confusion.

    Speed:
Yet another primary variable in fighting. When you hear the word 'speed' the first thing that pops into your head is probably reflexes, dodging, and things similar to these; these are not the only uses of speed, however. It can also be used as a means of increasing the likely hood of one of your attacks landing, this meaning that if your opponent is not as fast as you, your taijutsu will have more chance of hitting your opponent before they can dodge. But remember, speed takes stamina and can not be used at a constant without a downside.

If you're constantly dodging or using speed to make your attacks less-dodgable, keep in mind that it might have a toll on your health, your stamina determining whether or not it greatly effects your health. Even if over-using speed can not kill you, it can still cause you to become ill in the midst of battle, or even require hospitalization for periods of time. The data represtented in this section of the stat system does not constitute the effect of stamina, meaning that stamina can lesson the harsh effects of over-using your speed, as stated in this section. A graph is shown below of how speed
can effect the most basic forms of hand-to-hand and melee combat:
Dodging: Just because your fast, does not mean that you can dodge your opponent's attacks constantly. You must also account for their own speed, this having a great impact on whether or not you will be able to dodge, as well. When using speed, you must state at what level of speed you are moving at. If you do not, your speed will be automatically voided, and seen as level 0, this is to avoid any confusion, so please always state at what level speed you're moving at. To dodge a physical or melee attack, you must move at an equal to or higher speed than the attacker is during their attack. If the attack is a chakra attack, meaning ninjutsu attack, you must move at a speed equal to or higher than their Stamina (chakra), this being their chakra control, in order to avoid the attack. Dodging a puppet's attack also depends on your opponent's speed, you having to either match that speed or go over it.
Attacking: When attacking through the means of melee or physical combat, you are required to state the speed of your attack. An example of this is
Naruto sidestepped, as a means of avoiding his opponent's attack, as he aimed a powerful punch at his opponent's face.
    ----------
    Sidestep level 4 speed
    Punch level 3 speed

    Stamina - Chakra
A shinobi's stamina, otherwise known as their chakra, is the energy in their body that is used for fighting, as well as nearly any form of combat. Even taijutsu uses chakra, but very little of it, a lot less than that of ninjutsu. Stamina might sound useless at first, not as important as strength and speed, but it is certainly very useful, just as, if not more useful than either strength or speed. Both strength and speed can have ill effects on your body if not monitored by stamina.

The upsides of having a high level of stamina are as follows: you are able to perform more jutsu than those with lower stamina, you are able to maintain high speeds for much longer periods of times without ill effects, and you are able to keep up powerful melee and physical attacks. Below are graphs of how stamina effects you as well as helps you in battle:
    Higher Jutsu Usage:
    3 E's = 1 D; 3 D's = 1 C; 3 C's = 1 B; 3 B's = 1 A; 3 A's = 1 S
    - This means that if the system says you can perform up to 1 B rank per topic, it multiplies up to 3 C ranks, and so on.
    Ninjutsu/Genjutsu/Taijutsu/etc:
    Spoiler:
    Speed Maintenance:
    Spoiler:

    Strength Maintenance:
    Spoiler:

Once all of your stamina available in a single topic is all used up, you will lose all health except for 1 point and be unable to even do anything but lay down and will die unless hospitalized within one real world hour. Your opponent can also finish you off while your in this state.

    Wisdom:
Wisdom is your character's over-all natural intelligence, this consisting of common-sense, problem-solving, and strategic intelligence. Once again, wisdom, right? Sounds completely useless in an RPG centered completely around fighting and war. Well, when your finished reading this section, you will no longer see wisdom as 'useless' per say. The advantages of having high level wisdom will be explained below.

Ever get tired of getting caught in Genjutsu and not being able to escape it without meta-gaming? Well, that ends here, with this single stat. Wisdom gives the user advanced common-sense based on their level, which is used so that your character will be more knowledgeable and observant of genjutsu that are cast on them. The higher your level of wisdom, the higher ranked the genjutsu you are able to recognize.

A second advantage of having high wisdom, is that your even able to learn some jutsu that are over another specialty, unlike your own. This could mean that your specialties are ninjutsu and taijutsu, but if you have high enough wisdom can learn minor genjutsu.
    Genjutsu Detection:
Genjutsu detection is tricky business, and you can only pick up on them so many times in a single topic before you exhaust too much wisdom and will be unable to pick up on genjutsu any longer.
    Spoiler:
    Jutsu Learning
    Spoiler:

    Will Power:
Your character's will power is how much control he has over his mind and thought processes. Will power is yet another important part of combat when it comes to mind-trickery and stamina. If your level of will power is high enough, your character will be able to overcome genjutsu or even last longer without stamina than the average ninja.

A person's will power is also described as being able to go on in battle, even when out of energy, chakra, stamina, or even stunned. Will power is powerful, so it costs more points than other stats, though.
1 level costs 2.5 points, instead of the normal 1 level costs 1 point, and there is no level 0.
